How it works

From Google searches to revenue. On repeat.

Ship/Scale does the work that turns searches into sales: find where the money is, fix the page, buy links to that page if they pay, measure, and do it again next month.

The autopilot loop

  1. 01

    Connect

Your site, Search Console and analytics. A few minutes of setup.

  2. 02

    Find the money

Every page ranked by the revenue it is leaving on the table.

  3. 03

    Fix the content

Rewrites that answer what people search for, published to your CMS.

  4. 04

    Close the link gap

Buys links to the pages it just rewrote, only where they pay back.

  5. 05

    Measure

Clicks, positions and revenue at 30, 60 and 90 days. Spend vs. return.

Then it repeats. Fresh data every day, a new plan every month.

Step by step

What happens at each stage

Step 1 · Connect

A few minutes of setup, then hands off.

Sign in with Google to connect Search Console in the same click. Add your CMS so changes can be published for you, and your analytics so each click has a real value.

  • Search Console and Google Analytics are connected read-only
  • WordPress, Webflow or Shopify for publishing. Without one, use approve mode and copy changes across
  • Agencies can send clients a connect link, so they grant access without creating an account
Step 2 · Find the money

Know which pages are worth your money.

Every page is ranked by the revenue it is leaving on the table, so the first thing that gets fixed is the thing worth the most.

  • Built from the searches each page already appears for, not a generic keyword list
  • See who outranks each page and why: their links, their content, the questions searchers ask
  • Every page shows what its traffic would cost in Google Ads

/expense-managementexpense management software11.3$36.00$11,030
/expense-policyexpense policy template3.4$9.00$7,120
Step 3 · Fix the content

Pages that win the buyers already searching.

Ship/Scale spots the searches a page shows up for but doesn't answer, and rewrites the parts that matter. Content comes first because it's the cheapest win and it makes every later link work harder.

  • Titles, H1s, new sections, promoted headings, FAQs with schema, meta descriptions and internal links
  • Drafted in your page's voice, then published to your CMS on autopilot or after your approval
  • Re-checked to confirm the change is live, with one-click rollback
  • Pages competing for the same search are flagged so you can consolidate them

Step 4 · Close the link gap

A better page still has to outrank pages with more links pointing at them. So once a page is rewritten, Ship/Scale looks at the pages ranking above it, measures how many more referring domains they have, and prices closing that gap from PlacementAPI's marketplace.

  • Links go to the pages it just rewrote. A page with big fixes outstanding gets those fixes first
  • We compare your page to the pages beating it, not your whole domain to theirs
  • Prioritises domains that link to several of the pages above you, because they do the most work
  • Named, verified domains with prices held while you decide
  • A Growth Plan buys month over month within your budget, at a natural pace

Plan: 10 links this month, 10 next month and 8 after, inside your site's natural link pace. Anchor mix led by your brand name and plain URLs.

Step 5 · Measure

Proof, not promises.

After every change and every order, Ship/Scale tracks the page's position, clicks and revenue at 30, 60 and 90 days, and checks that each link is live, followed and indexed.

  • Spend next to observed revenue, and projected next to observed, never merged
  • Every number labelled measured, modelled or assumed
  • A plain-English monthly summary of what changed and what it earned

Revenue observed measured$1,700$5,200$6,900
Link spend to date$10,650$20,400$24,760

Projected and observed are always shown side by side, never merged.

Step 6 · Repeat

It gets sharper every month.

Search data refreshes every day. Each month the plan re-ranks every page with fresh numbers, moves budget to what's working, and stops spending where it isn't.

  • New opportunities surface as your pages start ranking for new searches
  • Pages that reach the top 3 move to Hold, so budget goes elsewhere
  • Pages whose links aren't paying back stop getting budget

The maths, simply

Where the dollar figures come from.

Three numbers, all from your own data where possible. Multiply them and you get what moving up is worth each month.

1measured

How many people search

Monthly impressions from Search Console, topped up with search volume from market data when you rank too low to see all of it.

2modelled

How many would click

A click-through curve fitted to your own site's Search Console data, position by position. Small sites lean on the industry average until they have enough data. Brand searches are left out so they don't inflate it.

3measured or assumed

What a click is worth

Revenue or conversions per visit from GA4, PostHog or Plausible, by landing page. Or a conversion rate and value you enter.

Worked example: /corporate-card

Example numbers
Searches a month
12,100
Click rate at #9 → #6
2.0% → 5.2%
Extra clicks a month
387
Value per click
$32

Extra revenue if it moves up three places387 clicks × $32 = ≈ $12,400 a month

Payback on $24,760 of links, at 50% confidence$24,760 ÷ ($12,400 × 50%) = 4 months

Payback is calculated on the most realistic step up (three places), not a jump to #1. Rank movement is modelled, not guaranteed, so payback and the 12-month return are both risk-adjusted at a confidence level you control (50% by default).

Honest verdicts

Sometimes the answer is “don't spend”.

Every page gets one clear verdict, so money only goes where it can come back.

  • Fix content first

The page's own content fixes are worth a meaningful share of its upside. Do those before spending on links.

  • Buy links

The links needed are available and pay back within a year, risk-adjusted. With autopilot writing your content, fixes land before the links go live.

  • Slow payback

Buyable, but payback takes 12 to 18 months. Shown, never bought automatically.

  • Partial

Marketplace links can close part of the gap. The rest needs PR, outreach or a linkable asset, and we say so.

  • Not worth it (yet)

Payback would take more than 18 months. We won't recommend spending on it.

  • Hold

Already in the top 3 with nobody above worth chasing. Protect it, don't pay for it.

Guardrails

Autonomous, inside your rules.

Autopilot never means a blank cheque. These limits apply to every run, whichever mode you choose.

  • A monthly budget and a maximum price per link, never exceeded
  • Approve mode by default: nothing publishes or buys until you click approve. Autopilot is an explicit opt-in per site
  • One-click rollback for every content change, with a full before-and-after log
  • Link pace capped to your site's own natural rate of new referring domains
  • An anchor mix led by your brand and plain URLs, with exact-match anchors kept under 5%
  • Never a domain flagged as suspect, and never the same domain twice for a page
  • No link spending on a page until its content is fixed
  • A pause switch that stops all future actions at once. Every order is logged with its price and reason
